Coventry City Centre Business Improvement District

In February 2005 Coventry businesses voted overwhelmingly to adopt a Business Improvement District (BID) which has revolutionised the way the city centre is run since going live on 1st April 2005.

Coventry City Centre has been a ‘BID-in-Waiting’ since 1998 when the City Centre Company (which later merged with Coventry & Warwickshire Promotions to become CV One Ltd) was formed. Unique in the UK, having been charged with operational control of cleansing and ground maintenance as well as town centre management, we set about asking local businesses what improvements they wanted to see in their trading environment before setting up tailored membership schemes to deliver these improvements.
