Christmas Lights Switch-On

Coventry is brought to life in the festive season when the Christmas Lights Switch On and Float Procession take over and light up the city in one of the most highly anticipated events of the year.

The Christmas Lights Switch On event is one of the biggest occasions in Coventry’s calendar, attracting more than 25,000 people into the city centre for the three hour show, which features the float procession, three stages of entertainment and music, the celebrity Switch On moment and fireworks.

Every year spectators are dazzled by the carnival atmosphere, colour and energy of the magical winter carnival procession, as well as the unbeatable entertainment, celebrity appearances and music on the stages.

Christmas Market and Fair

The Christmas Market brings a touch of magic to Christmas shopping in Coventry city centre. The market is based in the very heart of the shopping precinct maximising footfall and runs for six weeks from mid November. The stalls open from 11am until late on weekdays and Sundays, and from 10am until late on Saturdays.

Items on sale at the market have included pashminas, mulled wine, candles, winter woollens, fair trade clothing, children’s toys, speciality coffee, hand carved wooden crafts, Russian dolls, chocolate treats and lots more.

To accompany the market is entertainment and music including carol singers and brass bands on the Christmas stage every Wednesday evening and Saturday in the run up to Christmas.
